Founder & Chair

A Woman of Strength and Purpose

In 2019, Doreen Mrema established 'Wazee Support' to care for Tanzania's often-overlooked elderly population. The foundation was born from her profound belief that this group, despite having contributed so much to the nation's fabric, deserves dedicated support and shouldn't feel forgotten in their later years.

Following the passing of her late husband, the Honourable Augustine Mrema, in 2022, Doreen renamed the organization the Mrema Foundation. This change serves as a powerful tribute to his extraordinary life and legacy—a man who dedicated his entire career to serving the people of Tanzania, especially those in the Northern region

Under Doreen's steadfast leadership, the Mrema Foundation continues its vital mission, reflecting the deep-seated belief that every elder deserves respect, dignity, and proper care. Through its various programs, the foundation strives to create a more inclusive and supportive environment where the elderly can truly thrive.
